Inspector Gadget (voiced by Mona Marshall in the pilot, Cree Summer in Season 1, and Holly Berger in Season 2) is a world-famous cyborg police inspector whose missions are often set in foreign locales or within Metro City itself. Although equipped with numerous technological gadgets and a vehicle that can morph from a family minivan into a compact police car, Gadget is still bumbling and clueless on each mission, frequently proposing ludicrous theories behind a crime or mistaking M.A.D. agents for local residents. He is accompanied on his investigations by his niece Penny and her hi-tech utility wristwatch, Brain. Dr. Claw considers Gadget his greatest nemesis and often vows revenge after being foiled by him, but remains unaware of Penny and Brain’s role in foiling his schemes. A running gag is that Quimby hands Inspector Gadget briefing messages while in disguise, but he often returns them before they self-destruct, usually unintentionally and through his own idiocy.
