News update is a collection of news articles that are either breaking or developing. As a developing story the details will change with more becoming known as journalists investigate. For example, immediately following the Parkland shooting very few articles were available, but as journalists investigated more became known about the shooter, victims and school safety.
The goal of news experiences across Google is to help people stay informed by providing access to context and diverse perspectives on the issues they care about. This is accomplished by surfacing unpersonalized news from a variety of trusted sources.
